Monocoque

Technology Etiquette Summative Blog Post
The monocoqe is the primary component of a Formula 1 car's chassis. It encases the driver in a carbon fiber shell that can withstand massive impacts from any direction. Similar to how the monocoque is responsible for driver safety, this unit was largely about internet safety and cyberbullying. My Technology Etiquette Summative Blog Post was the final, summarizing part of this unit.
This blog post was divided into two parts: case study and thought questions. For the first part, the case study, I looked into the case of Amanda Todd. Studying her case was an eye opening experience for me. In 2012, Amanda Todd was bullied online by strangers. People at school cought wind of what had happened, and so they bullied her in person. The situation worsened to the point where Amanda changed schools. However, the situation did not improve. On October 10, 2012, she committed suicide.
Before I did this unit, I did not know much about cyberbullying. I did not know how serious cyberbullying could get until I learnt about the situations that led to Todd's death. I also realised that cyberbullying is an issue that I could encounter in the present and future.
I included this blog post in my e-portfolio because it was the most thourough blog post I did in this course. Beyond just the thought questions that I did in most of the other summative blog posts, it also included the case study. Another reason that I decided to include this post is that it had a great impact on my views of cyberbullying. Out of all the assignments that we did in this course, this was the assignment that single-handedly changed my views the most. Therefore it is an important artefact to include in my e-portfolio.
